  • Microblading is semi permanent and does require touchups to keep the color from fading over time. Normally it lasts 1-3 years however, there are a few things that can cause it to fade faster. These things include how closely you follow the pre and after care instructions, skin type (dry/oily), age, medication, lifestyle, and more. Sun exposure can also fade the pigment quicker. After your initial appointment, you will need to have a 6-8 week touchup to perfect the brows.

  • If the old work has faded enough I am able to work over it. Usually it needs to be faded about 80%. If it is too dark, the new work will not be visible once healed. Please send me a clear picture of your brows in natural lighting or schedule a consult so that I can see if I’m able to work with them.

Pre-Appointment Instructions

Please read through this section to make sure you are prepared for your upcoming appointment. I want to make sure I can get you the very best healed results so please follow these restrictions to the best of your abilities. Please reach out if you have any questions at all.

  • No chemical peels, microneedling, laser, or other skin resurfacing procedures. These can cause the skin to be more sensitive and delicate. This can cause easier trauma to skin and affect healed results.

  • No Botox or Dysport injections. I will be applying pressure to the forehead and brow area which can affect results of your Botox.

No brow tinting. Tinting can affect healing process and results as well.

No retinol or retin-a, this can thin the skin and can affect healed results.

  • Avoid sun exposure. If there is any level of sunburn we will need to reschedule. You do not want the skin around your brows to be in the healing process during your appointment.

  • Please stop use of any blood thinning medications such as ibuprofen, aspirin, niacin, vitamin e, fish oil, and coq10. Make sure any medications you are taking are not blood thinners. Excess bleeding during the procedure can make it more difficult for me to work with the brows and can affect the pigment coloring. Please consult with your doctor before stopping use of any medication.

  • Do not consume any caffeine, alcohol, or smoke cigarettes. These things can also cause excessive bleeding or high blood pressure making it hard for me to work with the area. If there is too much bleeding I can not promise healed results will be perfect.

  • Avoid working out as this can cause elevated blood pressure. You may want to come to the procedure with freshly washed hair as you may not be able to wash it for 1 week during the healing process. NO CAFFEINE SAME DAY

What to Expect at Your Appointment:

First we will take before pictures. You are welcome to come with brow makeup on so that I can see how you do your brows everyday. Please keep foundation to a minimum as I do have to wipe your face throughout the procedure and it will smear. These pics will be posted to my social media/website so make sure you come how you feel most comfortable.

Next, I will start by mapping out your new shape. As I map, I follow your natural brow shape and bone/facial structure. This part usually takes me the longest because I want to make sure I have the best outline possible to follow once I begin. I will show you and make sure you love your new shape before starting.

After mapping I will pick out the color and begin. Almost every single client of mine has not felt any pain at all. The ones that do say it is just a slight stinging. But rest assured I will make sure you are very comfortable during the procedure.

Once I begin, I will apply a numbing gel and keep applying it throughout the procedure to ensure that they stay numb. Normally it takes me about 2.5 hours from start to finish though this time may vary. Feel free to bring headphones to listen to music or an audiobook if that helps pass the time.

Aftercare Instructions

How you care for your brows during the healing process will ultimately determine the healing color, appearance, and how long they last. I highly recommend following these instructions to the best of your ability to ensure the brows heal perfectly.

-After your appointment, I will apply aftercare balm to the brows. I will provide you with more balm to take home. Apply the balm 3 times a day. -Morning, afternoon, and night. Too little is better than too much. About the size of a grain of rice will suffice for both brows each time.
-Never touch your brows without washing your hands immediately before and keep your hair out of your face until the brows are completely healed.
-Keep your brows DRY for 1 week.
-Avoid washing hair if possible for 1 week.
-Don’t let shower get too steamy or hot and avoid splashing water on brows.

-Avoid sweating. No exercise or excessive heat/humidity. No long, hot showers or baths.
-No direct sunlight while brows are healing. If you have to be outside or in the sun, wear a hat or keep them covered. Once brows are healed, you can wear sunscreen to keep the color from fading faster.
-Avoid pulling, rubbing, or picking at scabs/flakes. Allow them to fall off themselves. When you pick or pull off flakes it can pull out the pigment or cause scarring. Avoid sleeping on face as it can also rub off flakes prematurely.
-Do not use makeup on the area until a few days after flaking has ended.
After healing process you may return to regular cleansing/makeup routine until your 6-8 week touchup.
-Follow pre appointment instructions before 6-8 week touchup.

Failure to follow aftercare instructions may result in pigment loss, infection, or discoloration.

Healing Process

For the first few days your brows will look really dark and thick—this is just the pigment oxidizing. Then they will go through the patchy/flaky phase. After all the patchiness is gone, the brows will lighten up and almost disappear. Over the next few days the color should return.
At your 6-8 week touchup we can fix any problem areas and reinforce the color/shape. If you schedule your touchup any later than 12 weeks, it will be considered a 12 week-10 month touchup and you’d need to pay that price.
